Grasp Consulting Delivers MBSE Expertise

July 2021

Grasp Consulting continues to deliver Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) expertise to its clients. It is currently supporting a large defence company in the application and development of a federated model to drive the integration of its most complex systems for a large maritime capability.

The benefits of employing a model in this manner is to improve the integration, decision making and analysis of the maritime capability as each part of the system is constructed, integrated and delivered. The model aims to capture, visualise and manage the design and interfaces as complexity increases.

The customer has recognised this activity as key to managing areas of design with high levels of integration risk, allowing them to be modelled and explored by all stakeholders whether they are high level business leaders, software developers or system users.

Grasp Consulting Diversifies into the Rail Industry

April 2019

Grasp Consulting has continued to expand its cross domain experience with an entry into the rail industry - in what can be seen as a key win for the company. Our personnel are helping to develop and manage the requirements and test database for a traffic management software tool to manage capacity and programming across parts of the UK’s South East rail network. It is important that this software is successfully delivered as part of the increased adoption of digital technologies to the UK rail industry to meet the increasing passenger demand expected over the next 15 years. This is a new market for the company and provides a real opportunity for us to apply our Systems Engineering expertise from other domains whilst also developing our capabilities within the specific complexities of the UK rail operating environment.

Grasp Consulting Attends NATO Architecture Framework INCOSE Event

9th April 2018

This week Grasp Consulting attended an interesting event around the latest developments in the NATO Architecture Framework (NAF) at a Bristol INCOSE event at Atkins, Bristol. The latest in the evolution of the framework was discussed including its impact on the current engineering activities of the industry and the likely future direction of the methodology.

NAF provides a standard way to model an architecture and has its roots in TOGAF and MODAF. The industry is increasingly moving towards adopting more of this standard and it is likely to have a real impact on the architecture development work across organisations into the future.

Grasp Consulting presented at The Hub, Bristol in February

Grasp Consulting presented at The Hub, Bristol in February

Grasp Consulting's Principal Consultant Matthew Dent presented some of his research into using Model Based Systems Engineering to manage capability in complex equipment technology acquisitions. He highlighted some of the key insights into the challenges faced by enterprises as they look to adopt MBSE approaches throughout their engineering design activities.

The talk provoked healthy debate on the application of MBSE, how to leverage its benefits and how best to sell the MBSE value proposition to customers and senior managers alike.

The presentation was held by the Bristol INCOSE group at the Atkins Bristol offices. The International Council on Systems Engineering is dedicated to the advancement of the discipline across industry.
